History[edit | edit source]

Jollibee Foods Corporation was founded by Tony Tan Caktiong and his family in 1978. The first Jollibee store opened in Quezon City, Philippines, and quickly gained popularity for its unique menu offerings that catered to the Filipino taste. Over the years, Jollibee expanded its operations both domestically and internationally, establishing a strong presence in the fast food industry.

In 1993, Jollibee Foods Corporation acquired Chowking, a Chinese fast food chain, which further diversified its brand portfolio. This acquisition allowed JFC to tap into the growing market for Chinese cuisine in the Philippines and expand its customer base.
