Plum tree
Any of several trees producing edible oval fruit having a smooth skin and a single hard stone of the subgenus Prunus of the genus Prunus.
Differences from other stone fruits[edit | edit source]
The subgenus is characterized by it's unique groove on the side of the fruit unlike (peaches, cherries, bird cherries, etc.)
Dusty white coat[edit | edit source]
Mature plum fruit tend to have a dusty-white waxy coating that gives them a glaucous appearance known as "wax bloom".
Dried plums or prunes[edit | edit source]
Dried plum fruits are called "dried plums" or prunes, although, in many countries, prunes are a distinct type of dried plum having a wrinkled appearance such as Li hing mui.
