Spider-Man 3

From WikiMD's Food, Medicine & Wellness Encyclopedia

Spider-Man 3 is a 2007 American superhero film directed by Sam Raimi and produced by Laura Ziskin and Avi Arad. It is the third installment in Raimi's Spider-Man film series based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, portrayed by Tobey Maguire.

Plot[edit | edit source]

The film follows Peter Parker as he battles a new villain, the Sandman, while also dealing with his former friend Harry Osborn's quest for revenge and the arrival of an alien symbiote that bonds with Peter and enhances his powers but also amplifies his darker qualities.

Production[edit | edit source]

Production of Spider-Man 3 began immediately after the successful release of Spider-Man 2. The film was shot primarily in Los Angeles and New York City from January to July 2006. The film's budget was reported to be $258 million, making it the most expensive film ever made at the time.

Reception[edit | edit source]

Upon its release, Spider-Man 3 received mixed reviews from critics, who praised the performances of the cast and the visual effects, but criticized the film's narrative and the number of villains. Despite the mixed reviews, the film was a box office success, grossing over $890 million worldwide.

Sequel[edit | edit source]

Although a fourth film was planned, disagreements between Raimi and the producers over the script led to its cancellation. The Spider-Man film series was subsequently rebooted twice, first with The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012, and then with Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017 as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
