Alexandru Pesamosca

Alexandru Pesamosca (1920-2010) was a renowned Romanian pediatric surgeon and philanthropist, best known for his work at the Marie Curie Children's Hospital in Bucharest.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

Pesamosca was born in Bucharest, Romania in 1920. He attended the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, where he graduated with a degree in medicine in 1945.

Career[edit | edit source]

After graduation, Pesamosca began his career at the Marie Curie Children's Hospital in Bucharest. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the head of the surgery department in 1963. Pesamosca was known for his dedication to his patients, often working long hours and performing complex surgeries. He was also a pioneer in the field of pediatric surgery, introducing new techniques and procedures that greatly improved the survival rates of his patients.

In addition to his work at the hospital, Pesamosca was also a dedicated philanthropist. He founded the Alexandru Pesamosca Foundation, which provides financial support to children in need of medical treatment.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

Pesamosca passed away in 2010, but his legacy lives on. The Alexandru Pesamosca Foundation continues to provide support to children in need, and the Marie Curie Children's Hospital remains one of the leading pediatric hospitals in Romania. Pesamosca's contributions to the field of pediatric surgery have been recognized with numerous awards and honors, including the Order of the Star of Romania, the highest civilian honor in the country.
