Aurotioprol
Aurotioprol is a gold salt used as a treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. It is not a popular treatment any longer as there are many more effective treatment options.

Aurotioprol has a gold content of about 50%.
Mechanism of action[edit | edit source]
it has similar actions and uses to those of sodium aurothiomalate.
Route of administration[edit | edit source]
It is given by intramuscular injection for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
Dose[edit | edit source]
The initial dose is 25 mg weekly, increased to 50 to 100 mg weekly, until a total dose of 1.2 to 1.5 g has been given.
Monthly dose[edit | edit source]
If improvement has occurred with no signs of toxicity, this may be followed by a dose of 50 to 100 mg intramuscularly every month.
