County Mayo is a county in the West region of Ireland, in the province of Connacht. It is named after the village of Mayo, which is known in Irish as Maigh Eo, meaning "plain of the yew trees". County Mayo is the third largest of Ireland's 32 counties in area and 15th largest in terms of population.

The Mayo Clinic is a nonprofit American academic medical center focused on integrated health care, education, and research. It employs more than 4,500 physicians and scientists, along with another 58,400 administrative and allied health staff. The practice specializes in treating difficult cases through tertiary care and transplantation.
