Ultiva

Ultiva is a brand name for the drug Remifentanil, a potent ultra short-acting synthetic opioid analgesic. It is given to patients during surgery to relieve pain and as an adjunct to an anaesthetic.

Pharmacology

Remifentanil, the active ingredient in Ultiva, is a specific mu-opioid receptor agonist. It has a rapid onset and short duration of action. The drug is metabolized by non-specific blood and tissue esterases, and its metabolites are not active.
