Vanilla Sky is a 2001 American science fiction psychological thriller film directed by Cameron Crowe. It is an adaptation of the 1997 Spanish film Open Your Eyes, which was written by Alejandro Amenábar and Mateo Gil. The film stars Tom Cruise, Penélope Cruz, and Cameron Diaz, with appearances by Jason Lee and Kurt Russell.

The film follows the life of a wealthy publisher, David Aames (Tom Cruise), who leads a privileged lifestyle. His life takes a turn when he meets the beautiful Sofia Serrano (Penélope Cruz) at a party. However, his jealous ex-lover, Julie Gianni (Cameron Diaz), drives him off a bridge in a fit of rage, disfiguring him. David then lives a life of confusion and reality distortion, with the lines between dreams and reality becoming increasingly blurred.

Vanilla Sky was produced by Paramount Pictures, Vinyl Films, and Cruise/Wagner Productions. The film's screenplay was written by Cameron Crowe, who also directed the film. The film's score was composed by Nancy Wilson, with additional music by Radiohead and Sigur Rós.

Upon its release, Vanilla Sky received mixed reviews from critics. Some praised the film's ambition and performances, particularly those of Cruise and Cruz, while others criticized its complexity and lack of coherence. The film was a box office success, grossing over $200 million worldwide.
