Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Aquaman. It is intended to be a sequel to the 2018 film Aquaman and the fourteenth film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is directed by James Wan and written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick.

Following the success of Aquaman in 2018, a sequel was quickly put into development. James Wan returned as the director, with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick penning the script. The film aims to expand the underwater world and delve deeper into the mythology of Atlantis.

Principal photography for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom began in mid-2021. The production took place in various locations, including Australia and the United Kingdom.

Visual Effects[edit | edit source]

The film is expected to feature extensive visual effects to bring the underwater world of Atlantis to life. Industrial Light & Magic and other VFX companies are involved in the production.
