- Bandon was established by Irishman George Bennet in 1873. He named the city after Bandon, Ireland, his hometown. The city was incorporated in 1891.

- Bandon is located at 43°7′N 124°24′W. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.15 square miles, of which 2.77 square miles is land and 0.38 square miles is water.
