Fyffes is an Irish-based company that specializes in the importation and distribution of tropical produce. The company was established in London in 1888 by Edward Wathen Fyffe and his son, Hudson. The name "Fyffes" is derived from the family name of its founders.

History[edit | edit source]

Fyffes was initially a banana importing business, which later expanded to include other tropical fruits such as pineapples and melons. The company was the first to introduce the banana to the British market. In 1901, Fyffes was incorporated as a public company.

In 1969, Fyffes merged with the United Fruit Company, forming the largest banana company in Europe. The company was later acquired by the Total Produce group in 2018.
