Freewinds is a cruise ship owned and operated by the Church of Scientology. It is the home of the Flag Ship Service Organization (FSSO), a Church of Scientology organization which delivers the highest levels of spiritual counseling in the Scientology religion.

The ship was built in 1968 by Wärtsilä Turku Shipyard in Finland for Wallenius Lines as MS Bohème for service with Commodore Cruise Line. It was the first cruise ship built in Finland. Its ownership passed to the Church of Scientology's Flag Ship Trust in 1985.

Use by the Church of Scientology[edit | edit source]

The Church of Scientology uses the ship for advanced Church courses and auditing. The ship is used for the highest level of spiritual counseling in the Scientology religion, the New OT VIII (Operating Thetan Level 8), and for religious retreat and spiritual well-being.

Health and safety incidents[edit | edit source]

The ship has been involved in several health and safety incidents, including an outbreak of measles in 2019 and allegations of asbestos contamination.
