The number associated with the letter indicates the number of times the substance has been diluted and succussed. For example, a remedy labeled as 30C has been diluted to one part in 100, and this process has been repeated 30 times.

The concept of homeopathic dilutions has been a subject of controversy and criticism. Critics argue that many homeopathic remedies are diluted to the point that they are unlikely to contain a single molecule of the original substance. This has led to questions about how such remedies can have any effect, and has fueled skepticism about the effectiveness of homeopathy.
