Journal of School Nursing is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes research in the field of nursing. The journal's editor is Julia Muennich Cowell, PhD, RN, APHN-BC, FAAN. It has been in publication since 1985 and is currently published by SAGE Publications.

Scope[edit | edit source]

The Journal of School Nursing (JOSN) provides a bimonthly peer-reviewed forum for improving the health of school children and the health of the school community. The JOSN seeks to engage a broad range of clinicians, scholars and community leaders in an ongoing exchange of information and debate. The journal publishes original research, clinical practice, and theoretical articles on issues of interest to school nurses and related health care professionals. The journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

The Journal of School Nursing is abstracted and indexed in Scopus, CINAHL, PubMed, Medline, and the Social Science Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, its 2019 impact factor is 1.203, ranking it 96 out of 123 in the category "Nursing".
