- Monte Vista is a city located in Rio Grande County, Colorado, United States. The city is part of the San Luis Valley, with a population of approximately 4,444 as of the 2010 census. Monte Vista is Spanish for "Mountain View", as the city is surrounded by the San Juan Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
