PepsiAmericas[edit | edit source]

PepsiAmericas was a large PepsiCo bottling company that was based in the United States. It was the second largest Pepsi Cola franchisee in the world, with operations in Central and Eastern Europe as well as the Caribbean.

History[edit | edit source]

PepsiAmericas was formed in 2000 when Whitman Corporation, a Pepsi bottler, merged with Pepsi-Cola General Bottlers. The company was publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol "PAS".

In 2009, PepsiCo announced its intention to purchase PepsiAmericas along with another bottler, Pepsi Bottling Group. The acquisition was completed in 2010, and PepsiAmericas became a part of PepsiCo.

Operations[edit | edit source]

PepsiAmericas had operations in several countries. In the United States, it served markets in the Midwest, South, and Southeast. Internationally, it had operations in Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Moldova, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Ukraine, Belarus, and the Caribbean.

The company produced and distributed a wide range of PepsiCo products, including Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist, Aquafina, Lipton Iced Tea, and Tropicana.

Financial Performance[edit | edit source]

Before its acquisition by PepsiCo, PepsiAmericas reported strong financial performance. In 2008, the company reported net sales of $5.2 billion.

Legacy[edit | edit source]

The acquisition of PepsiAmericas by PepsiCo marked a significant shift in the company's strategy. It allowed PepsiCo to have more direct control over its bottling operations, which was expected to lead to cost savings and increased efficiency.
