Primanti Bros. is an American chain of casual dining restaurants that originated in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1933 by brothers Joe, Dick, and Stanley Primanti, the restaurant is famous for its unique sandwich, often called the "Pittsburgh Sandwich," which consists of grilled meat, an Italian dressing-based coleslaw, tomato slices, and French fries between two pieces of Italian bread.

History[edit | edit source]

The first Primanti Bros. restaurant was opened in the Strip District of Pittsburgh in 1933 during the Great Depression. The original location was a small sandwich cart located near the area's numerous factories. The Primanti brothers initially created their signature sandwich as a convenient meal for truckers and other workers who needed a quick, easy-to-handle lunch.

Menu[edit | edit source]

The menu at Primanti Bros. is diverse, but the restaurant is best known for its signature sandwich. Other popular items include pizza, wings, and salads. All sandwiches are served with a side of fries and coleslaw.

Locations[edit | edit source]

Primanti Bros. has expanded beyond Pittsburgh and now has locations in several states, including Ohio, West Virginia, and Florida. The company continues to grow, with plans for further expansion in the future.
