The Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) is one of the major stock exchanges in China. It is located in the city of Shanghai, and it is one of the two stock exchanges operating independently in the People's Republic of China, the other being the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

The Shanghai Stock Exchange was founded on November 26, 1990, and began operations on December 19, 1990.
