Tablet
(Redirected from Tablets)
Tablet is a mobile device that combines computing, telephone/fax, Internet and networking features. A tablet is primarily operated by touching the screen and it does not require a physical keyboard or mouse.
History[edit | edit source]
The concept of a tablet was first sketched by Alan Kay while at Xerox PARC in 1971. The first widely sold tablet was Apple's iPad in 2010.
Design[edit | edit source]
Tablets are typically larger than smartphones or personal digital assistants with screens 7 inches (18 cm) or larger, measured diagonally. Tablets can be classified according to the presence and physical appearance of keyboards. Slates and booklets do not have a physical keyboard and typically feature text input performed through the use of a virtual keyboard projected on a touchscreen-enabled display.
Operating Systems[edit | edit source]
Most tablets use a mobile operating system such as iOS, Android, and Windows 10.
Uses[edit | edit source]
Tablets are used for a variety of purposes, including browsing the web, reading e-books, playing games, and watching movies. They are also used in various professional fields such as education, healthcare, and business.
