Tata Memorial Hospital

Tata Memorial Hospital is a specialist cancer treatment and research centre based in Mumbai, India. It is a fully funded grant-in-aid institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, which is under the direct charge of the Government of India.

The hospital was initially commissioned by the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust on 28 February 1941 as a center with enduring value and a mission for concern for the Indian people. In 1952, the Indian Cancer Research Centre was established as a pioneer research institute for basic research.

Tata Memorial Hospital provides comprehensive care for patients with various types of cancer, including medical, surgical and radiation oncology. It also has a preventive oncology department that offers cancer screening and early detection services. The hospital has a capacity of 600 beds, with well-equipped laboratories for diagnostic services.

The hospital is also involved in cancer research and offers a range of postgraduate degrees in oncology, including M.Sc and PhD programs. The research at Tata Memorial Hospital is focused on understanding the causes of cancer and developing new treatments and therapies.
