The American Journal of Medical Genetics was established in 1977. It was initially published quarterly, but due to the increasing number of submissions, it became a monthly publication in 1981. The journal has been published by John Wiley & Sons since its inception.
Scope[edit | edit source]
The journal covers all aspects of human genetics, including molecular genetics, cytogenetics, genetic counseling, behavioral genetics, and clinical genetics. It publishes original research articles, reviews, and clinical reports. The journal also publishes special issues on specific topics in medical genetics.

The American Journal of Medical Genetics is abstracted and indexed in PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, and the Science Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2019 impact factor of 2.264.
