Benjamin Chukwuma Ozumba

Benjamin Chukwuma Ozumba is a renowned Nigerian gynecologist and medical educator. He served as the 14th Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) from 2014 to 2019.

Benjamin Chukwuma Ozumba was born in Nigeria. He attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he obtained his MBBS degree. He furthered his education abroad, specializing in gynecology and obstetrics.

Career[edit | edit source]

Ozumba started his career as a medical practitioner in Nigeria. He later joined the University of Nigeria, Nsukka as a lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He rose through the ranks to become a professor in the same department.

In 2014, Ozumba was appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, a position he held until 2019. During his tenure, he implemented several initiatives aimed at improving the quality of education and research at the university.

Ozumba has made significant contributions to the field of gynecology, particularly in the area of infertility. He has published numerous research articles in reputable medical journals and has presented his work at various international conferences.

Ozumba has received several awards and honors for his contributions to the field of medicine and medical education. These include the Nigeria Medical Association's Distinguished Service Award and the National Universities Commission's Best Vice-Chancellor Award.
