Biological Parent

A biological parent is a person whose gamete resulted in a child, a male through the sperm, and a female through the ovum. Biological parents are first-degree relatives and have 50% genetic meet. A female can also become a biological parent through surrogacy.

Biological relationship[edit | edit source]

Biological parents have a crucial role in the development of the child, not only in terms of inheritance of genetic material but also in cultural and environmental influences. The biological relationship between the parent and child is typically the basis for the legal and social relationship.

Biological mother[edit | edit source]

A biological mother is the female genetic contributor to the creation of the infant, through sexual intercourse or in vitro fertilization. In the case of an adoption, the biological mother is referred to as the birth mother, giving birth to the child.

Biological father[edit | edit source]

A biological father is the male genetic contributor to the creation of the baby, supplying the sperm, which fertilizes the ovum, which develops into an embryo or fetus.
