Bromont, Quebec

Bromont, Quebec is a city located in southwestern Quebec, Canada, at the base of Mount Brome. It is part of the Brome-Missisquoi Regional County Municipality.

History

Bromont was established in 1964. The city was created out of the merger of the Township of West Shefford and the village of Bromont. The name Bromont was derived from the contraction of "Brome" (from Mount Brome) and "Mont" (French for mountain).

Geography

Bromont is situated in the Eastern Townships, an area of Quebec known for its scenic beauty and historical significance. The city is surrounded by the Yamaska River and numerous mountains, including Mount Brome, which is a popular destination for outdoor activities.

Economy

Bromont's economy is primarily based on tourism and the high-tech industry. The city is home to the Bromont, Quebec Ski Resort, one of the largest night skiing areas in North America.
