COBS Bread

COBS Bread is a franchise bakery chain that originated in Australia under the name "Bakers Delight". The company was founded in 1980 by Roger and Lesley Gillespie. The first COBS Bread bakery opened in Vancouver, Canada in 2003. As of 2021, there are over 700 COBS Bread bakeries in Canada, the United States, and Australia.

COBS Bread was founded by Roger and Lesley Gillespie in 1980 in Australia. The Gillespies opened the first bakery under the name "Bakers Delight" in the Melbourne suburb of Hawthorn. The company expanded rapidly and by 1992, there were 100 Bakers Delight bakeries across Australia.

In 2003, the Gillespies decided to expand their business internationally. They opened the first COBS Bread bakery in Vancouver, Canada. The name "COBS" is an acronym for "Cobs Opens Bakers Shops". The company continued to grow and expand, and by 2021, there were over 700 COBS Bread bakeries in Canada, the United States, and Australia.

COBS Bread offers a variety of bread products, including whole grain bread, white bread, rye bread, and sourdough bread. They also offer a range of pastries, such as croissants, danishes, and muffins. In addition to bread and pastries, COBS Bread also sells scones, rolls, and buns.

Community Involvement[edit | edit source]

COBS Bread is known for its community involvement. The company has a policy of donating unsold bread to local charities at the end of each day. This initiative, known as the "End of Day Giving" program, has resulted in millions of loaves of bread being donated to charities across Canada, the United States, and Australia.
