Carambar

Carambar is a popular candy brand originating from France. Known for its distinctive caramel flavor, Carambar candies are a staple in French confectionery. The brand is currently owned by the multinational company Eurazeo.

History[edit | edit source]

Carambar was first produced in 1954 in the French town of Marcq-en-Barœul by the Delespaul-Havez company. The candy was initially a result of a manufacturing error, but its unique taste and texture quickly gained popularity. In 1972, the brand was acquired by Cadbury, and later by Eurazeo in 2017.

Product[edit | edit source]

Carambar candies are primarily made of sugar, glucose syrup, palm oil, skimmed milk powder, cocoa, and salt. They are known for their long, stick-like shape and chewy texture. Over the years, Carambar has expanded its product line to include a variety of flavors such as fruit, chocolate, and cola.

Cultural Impact[edit | edit source]

Carambar is not only a candy but also a part of French culture. Each wrapper contains a joke or a riddle, making it a fun treat for both children and adults. The brand also organizes the annual "Carambar for a Joke" contest, where participants can submit their own jokes for a chance to have them printed on Carambar wrappers.
