Carrie Wolinetz

Carrie Wolinetz is an American biomedical science policy expert. She is currently serving as the Acting Chief of Staff and Associate Director for Science Policy at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Carrie Wolinetz was born and raised in the United States. She pursued her undergraduate studies in biopsychology at Oberlin College, where she developed a keen interest in the intersection of science and policy. She then went on to earn a Ph.D. in animal science from Michigan State University, focusing on reproductive physiology.

Wolinetz began her career in science policy as a Health Policy Analyst at the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB). She then served as the Director of Scientific Affairs and Public Relations at the Association for Psychological Science (APS) before joining the NIH.

At the NIH, Wolinetz has been instrumental in shaping the agency's science policy. She has been involved in a wide range of issues, including data sharing, genetic testing, human subjects protections, and the use of animals in research. She also serves as the NIH's principal liaison to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
