Concrete operational stage is a term coined by Jean Piaget to describe a phase in child development where children gain the ability to think logically about concrete events. This stage, which follows the preoperational stage and precedes the formal operational stage, typically occurs between the ages of 7 and 11 years. During this period, children begin to understand the concept of conservation (the understanding that quantity, length, or number of items is unrelated to the arrangement or appearance of the object or items), master the skill of classification, and become more adept at seriation (the ability to sort objects in an order according to size, shape, or any other characteristic).
