Culinary Institute of America (CIA) is a private, not-for-profit college specializing in culinary and baking and pastry arts education. It is one of the most prestigious culinary schools in the world, with a history that spans over seven decades.

The Culinary Institute of America was founded in 1946 by Frances Roth and Katharine Angell. The school was originally established as a vocational institute for returning World War II veterans. The CIA's primary campus is located in Hyde Park, New York, with branch campuses in St. Helena and Napa, California, San Antonio, Texas, and Singapore.

The CIA offers associate and bachelor's degree programs in culinary arts, baking and pastry arts, food business management, hospitality management, culinary science, and applied food studies. The college also offers certificate programs and courses for professionals and enthusiasts.

Campuses[edit | edit source]

The CIA's main campus in Hyde Park, New York, is set on 170 acres overlooking the Hudson River. The campus is home to 41 professional kitchens and bakeshops. The CIA also has campuses in California, Texas, and Singapore.

Notable alumni[edit | edit source]

Many of the CIA's alumni have gone on to achieve great success in the culinary world. Notable alumni include celebrity chefs Anthony Bourdain, Cat Cora, and Grant Achatz, among others.
