Defence Science and Technology Laboratory

The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) is an executive agency of the Ministry of Defence of the United Kingdom. It is the UK's leading government agency in applying science and technology to the defence and security of the nation. DSTL's work covers a wide range of areas including research, development, and evaluation of technologies for defence and security purposes.

DSTL was formed in 2001 following the merger of the Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA) with the Royal Signals and Radar Establishment (RSRE). The agency has its headquarters at Porton Down in Wiltshire, England, with additional sites across the UK.

DSTL's primary role is to provide scientific and technical support to the UK's armed forces and government. The agency conducts research and development in various fields such as ballistics, cybersecurity, chemical warfare, and sensors technology.
