Eastern University of Sri Lanka

The Eastern University of Sri Lanka (EUSL) is a public university located in Vantharumoolai, Batticaloa, in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. Established on October 1, 1986, the university was a response to the growing demand for higher education in the region and has since played a pivotal role in providing educational opportunities in various fields, including Medicine, Agriculture, Commerce, and Arts.

The inception of the Eastern University of Sri Lanka can be traced back to the early 1980s, amidst the backdrop of the increasing need for higher educational institutions in the Eastern regions of Sri Lanka. Initially functioning as an extension of the University of Sri Lanka, Batticaloa Campus, it was officially declared an independent university in 1986, following the University Act No. 16 of 1978.

EUSL encompasses several faculties spread across its main campus in Vantharumoolai and its other campuses, including the Faculty of Health-Care Sciences located in Batticaloa. The university's strategic location allows it to serve a diverse student population from various parts of the country, especially those from the Eastern Province.

The main campus houses the faculties of Agriculture, Science, Arts & Culture, and Commerce & Management. It is equipped with modern facilities, including laboratories, libraries, and lecture halls, to support the academic and research activities of the students and staff.

Situated in Batticaloa, the Faculty of Health-Care Sciences is one of the prominent faculties of EUSL, offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Medicine, Nursing, and Allied Health Sciences.
