Eye is a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal that covers the field of ophthalmology. The journal was established in 1987 and is published by the Nature Publishing Group. It is the official journal of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.

The journal was established in 1987. It was initially published on a quarterly basis, but due to its increasing popularity and the volume of submissions, it switched to a monthly publication schedule in 1997.

Scope[edit | edit source]

The journal covers all aspects of ophthalmology, including clinical research, basic science research, and translational research. It publishes original research articles, review articles, case reports, and letters to the editor. The journal also features sections on book reviews, clinical science, and education.

Abstracting and indexing[edit | edit source]

The journal is abstracted and indexed in PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, and the Science Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2019 impact factor of 2.275.

Editorial board[edit | edit source]

The journal's editorial board consists of leading experts in the field of ophthalmology from around the world. The current editor-in-chief is Professor John Marshall, who has held the position since 1997.
