Flow-restricted, oxygen-powered ventilation device
A flow-restricted, oxygen-powered ventilation device, also known as a flutter valve, is a medical device used to help clear mucus from the lungs of people with respiratory conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and cystic fibrosis. The device is a small, handheld device that uses the force of exhaled breath to create vibrations in a plastic or silicone chamber, which causes mucus in the lungs to break up and become easier to cough up. The device is powered by oxygen and can be used in conjunction with other treatments, such as bronchodilators and antibiotics.
