Foundation For International Medical Relief Of Children (FIMRC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of families in the developing world through the implementation of innovative and self-sustainable health improvement programs.

History[edit | edit source]

FIMRC was founded in 2002 by Vincent DeGennaro, a medical student at the University of Miami. The organization was initially established to provide medical relief to children in developing countries. Over the years, FIMRC has expanded its mission to include a comprehensive approach to health care that involves clinical services, extensive community outreach efforts and health education programs.

Mission[edit | edit source]

The mission of FIMRC is to provide access to medical care for underprivileged and medically underserved families around the world. The organization believes that access to healthcare should not be compromised by financial ability, geographic location, or education level. FIMRC's approach is to work within communities to understand their unique needs and implement sustainable solutions.

Programs[edit | edit source]

FIMRC operates in nine countries including Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, India, Nicaragua, Peru, Philippines, Uganda, and the United States. The organization's programs focus on four main areas: clinical services, community outreach, health education, and research.

Clinical Services[edit | edit source]

FIMRC operates health clinics in each of its project sites. These clinics provide a range of services from primary care to specialized care. The clinics are staffed by local healthcare professionals and supplemented by international volunteers.

Community Outreach[edit | edit source]

FIMRC's community outreach programs aim to address health issues at their root cause. This includes initiatives such as home visits, community health worker training, and health promotion campaigns.

Health Education[edit | edit source]

FIMRC believes that health education is a critical component of sustainable health improvement. The organization provides health education programs for both children and adults, covering topics such as nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.

Research[edit | edit source]

FIMRC also conducts research to inform its programs and contribute to the broader field of global health. The organization's research focuses on understanding the health needs of the communities it serves and evaluating the impact of its programs.

Volunteer Opportunities[edit | edit source]

FIMRC offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals interested in global health. These include short-term medical missions, internships, and long-term volunteer positions.
