George Q. Daley is an American stem cell biologist and physician-scientist known for his significant contributions to the field of stem cell research. He currently serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and the Caroline Shields Walker Professor of Medicine at Harvard University. Daley's research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate hematopoietic stem cells and how these insights can be applied to develop novel therapies for various diseases.

Early Life and Education[edit | edit source]

George Q. Daley was born on August 29, 1961, in Boston, Massachusetts. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard College in 1982. He then went on to earn his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 1986. Daley completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital and later pursued a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Career[edit | edit source]

In 1995, George Q. Daley joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School and began his pioneering research in the field of stem cell biology. He has made significant contributions to the understanding of pluripotent stem cells and their potential applications in regenerative medicine. Daley's work has led to the development of novel strategies for generating patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) for disease modeling and drug discovery.

Daley has published numerous research articles in top scientific journals and has received several prestigious awards for his contributions to the field of stem cell research. In addition to his research endeavors, he is actively involved in teaching and mentoring the next generation of scientists and physicians.
