Grotto Pizza

Grotto Pizza is a popular pizza chain primarily located in the U.S. state of Delaware. It was established in 1960 by Dominick Pulieri, along with his brother-in-law and sister. The first Grotto Pizza restaurant was opened in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and has since expanded to 23 locations across Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.

Dominick Pulieri was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He started working in the pizza industry at the age of 16, learning the trade from his brother-in-law, Joseph Paglianite. In 1960, Pulieri, along with Paglianite and his sister, Mary Jean, moved to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and opened the first Grotto Pizza.

Menu[edit | edit source]

Grotto Pizza is known for its unique style of pizza, which features a swirl of sauce on top of the cheese, rather than underneath it. This style has become a signature of Grotto Pizza and has contributed to its popularity. In addition to pizza, the restaurant also serves pasta, sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. They also offer a variety of beverages, including soft drinks, beer, and wine.

Grotto Pizza has 23 locations, primarily in Delaware. The original location in Rehoboth Beach is still in operation and is a popular destination for both locals and tourists. Other locations can be found in various cities and towns in Delaware, as well as in Maryland and Pennsylvania.

Grotto Pizza has received numerous awards and recognitions for its pizza. It has been voted "Best Pizza" in Delaware by various publications and organizations, and has also been recognized for its contributions to the local community.
