Heredity is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes original research articles, reviews, briefings, and commentaries in all areas of genetics. The journal is published by the Nature Publishing Group on behalf of the Genetics Society.

Overview[edit]

Heredity was established in 1947 by Ronald Fisher and C.D. Darlington. The journal covers a broad range of genetic topics. While the focus is on genetic research, the journal also publishes articles in all areas of genetics, including genetic variation, molecular genetics, population genetics, quantitative genetics, conservation genetics, genomic and epigenetics.

The journal is published monthly by the Nature Publishing Group on behalf of the Genetics Society. It is available in both print and online versions. The current editor-in-chief is Barbara Mable (University of Glasgow).
