Herodotus was a Greek physician in the 5th and 4th centuries BC, who was a native of Tarentum, and a pupil of Philistion of Locri, a famous medical practitioner of that era. He is frequently mentioned by Galen, who speaks of him in terms of high respect, and has preserved some of his medical prescriptions.
