IGF2-AS
IGF2-AS is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) that is associated with the regulation of the IGF2 gene. It is located on the antisense strand of the IGF2 gene, hence the name IGF2-AS (IGF2 Antisense).
Function[edit | edit source]
The IGF2-AS lncRNA is involved in the regulation of the IGF2 gene, which is an important gene in human growth and development. It is believed to play a role in the genomic imprinting of the IGF2 gene, a process that determines which copy of the gene is expressed based on its parental origin.
Clinical Significance[edit | edit source]
Alterations in the expression of IGF2-AS have been associated with several diseases, including cancer, diabetes, and Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome. In particular, overexpression of IGF2-AS has been observed in several types of cancer, suggesting that it may play a role in tumorigenesis.
Research[edit | edit source]
Research into the function and clinical significance of IGF2-AS is ongoing. Current research is focused on understanding the exact mechanisms by which IGF2-AS regulates the IGF2 gene, as well as its potential role in disease development and progression.
