Industrial agriculture is a form of modern farming that refers to the industrialized production of livestock, poultry, fish, and crops. The methods of industrial agriculture are technologically advanced and heavily mechanized. The main features include the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other agrochemicals for crop production, as well as the use of antibiotics and growth hormones in animal husbandry. Industrial agriculture aims to increase yields and reduce costs with techniques such as monoculture, the cultivation of a single crop over a wide area for consecutive years.

The roots of industrial agriculture can be traced back to the Agricultural Revolution in the 18th century, which introduced crop rotation, selective breeding, and a more efficient use of land. Industrial agriculture has been criticized for its environmental impact, including deforestation, soil degradation, water pollution, and contribution to climate change due to the heavy use of fossil fuels and methane emissions from livestock. The loss of biodiversity is also a major concern, as monoculture and the use of pesticides reduce the variety of plants and animals in agricultural areas.
