Joxe Azurmendi

Joxe Azurmendi (born 19 March 1941) is a Basque philosopher, essayist, and poet. He has published numerous articles and books on ethics, politics, philosophy, and the history of ideas in the Basque language.

Joxe Azurmendi was born in Zegama, Gipuzkoa, in the Basque Country, Spain. He studied philosophy and theology at the University of Gregorian in Rome, and later, philosophy and literature at the University of Zaragoza in Spain. Azurmendi is considered one of the most significant contemporary Basque thinkers. Throughout his career, he has been involved with the Basque cultural and political movement, advocating for the Basque language and culture.
