Liberty County, Georgia is a county located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Georgia. As of the 2020 United States Census, the population was 61,435. The county seat is Hinesville. Liberty County is part of the Hinesville-Fort Stewart Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Liberty County was established in 1777 from a portion of McIntosh County. It is named for the American ideal of liberty. The county has a rich history, with its roots deeply embedded in the colonial period of Georgia. Liberty County was a significant site during the American Revolutionary War, with many battles and events occurring within its boundaries. The county was also home to several notable figures in American history, including Button Gwinnett, one of the signatories of the Declaration of Independence.
