Licor 43

Licor 43 or Cuarenta y Tres is a bright yellow Spanish liqueur. It is made from citrus and fruit juices, flavored with vanilla and other aromatic herbs and spices, for a total of 43 different ingredients (hence the name).

Licor 43 has a long history dating back to the time of the early Romans. The recipe for the liqueur was said to have been created by the Romans around 200 BC, and it was known as "Liquor Mirabilis". The liqueur was banned by the Romans for its believed mystical properties, but was recreated in the 20th century by the Zamora family in Cartagena, Spain.

Production[edit | edit source]

The exact recipe for Licor 43 is a closely guarded secret, known only to the Zamora family. The liqueur is made from a variety of fruits and herbs, with a strong vanilla flavor. The ingredients are mixed together and then left to rest in stainless steel tanks for a period of time. After this, the liqueur is filtered and bottled.

Licor 43 has a sweet, vanilla flavor, with hints of citrus. It is often served on its own, over ice, but can also be used in a variety of cocktails. One popular cocktail is the "Mini Beer", which is a shot of Licor 43 topped with a small amount of cream to give the appearance of a tiny beer.

Licor 43 is available in over 60 countries worldwide, making it the most popular Spanish liqueur. It is particularly popular in Germany, Mexico, and the Netherlands.
