- Δ - Delta: Used in medical contexts to signify change or difference. For example, ΔHR could mean "change in heart rate".
- ΔΔ - Delta Delta: Often used in the context of PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) for expressing comparative results, especially in quantitative PCR.
- +ve - Positive: Indicates the presence of something, such as a substance or an organism, in a test result.
- # - Number: Used to denote the number of something, such as "# of patients".
- #NOF - Neck of Femur fracture: A common abbreviation in orthopedics referring to a type of hip fracture.
- ℞ - Prescription: A symbol representing a medical prescription.
- Ψ - Psi: In psychology, it can represent the mind or psychological functions.
- Σ - Sigma: Represents the sum of all values in medical research or statistical analysis.
- x/12 - Per twelve; used for monthly intervals. For example, medication dosing might be 2x/12 or twice per month.
- x/40 - Per forty; not commonly used in medical notation, may need context for specific usage.
- x/52 - Per fifty-two; used for weekly intervals. For example, a follow-up appointment might be 1x/52 or once a week.
- x/7 - Per seven; used for daily intervals. For example, a medication might be prescribed 3x/7 or three times a week.
- 18F-FDG - Fluorodeoxyglucose (18F): A radiopharmaceutical used in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging.
- 2° - Secondary: Can indicate a secondary condition or disease resulting from a primary cause.
- 2-Feb - Second of February: A date, possibly used to indicate the date of a medical event or appointment.
- 3TC - Lamivudine: An antiretroviral medication used to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS.
- 5-FU - 5-Fluorouracil: A medication used to treat cancer.
