Manyu (department)

Manyu is a department in the Southwest Region of Cameroon. Its capital is Mamfe. The department is divided into several subdivisions, each headed by a subdivisional officer.

Geography[edit | edit source]

Manyu is located in the southwestern part of Cameroon. It is bordered to the north by the Lebialem department, to the east by the Kupe-Manenguba department, to the south by the Ndian department and the country of Equatorial Guinea, and to the west by the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Subdivisions[edit | edit source]

Manyu is divided into several subdivisions, including Akwaya, Mamfe Central, Eyumojock, Upper Banyang, Tinto, and Lower Banyang. Each subdivision is headed by a subdivisional officer.

Economy[edit | edit source]

The economy of Manyu is largely based on agriculture, with cocoa, coffee, palm oil, and bananas being the main crops. The department also has significant timber resources.

Culture[edit | edit source]

The people of Manyu are predominantly of the Bantu ethnic group. The main languages spoken in the department are Mundani, Kenyang, and Denya.

Education[edit | edit source]

Education in Manyu is overseen by the Ministry of Basic Education and the Ministry of Secondary Education. The department has several primary and secondary schools, as well as a few vocational training centers.

Health[edit | edit source]

Healthcare in Manyu is provided by a number of health centers and hospitals, including the Mamfe District Hospital. The department also has several private clinics.
