NHS Nightingale Hospital Yorkshire and the Humber
The NHS Nightingale Hospital Yorkshire and the Humber is a temporary NHS COVID-19 hospital located in the Harrogate Convention Centre in Harrogate, Yorkshire. It was set up by NHS England in 2020 to provide critical care for COVID-19 patients. The hospital has the capacity to accommodate up to 500 people. On 4 June 2020, it was repurposed as a radiology diagnostic clinic. However, in March 2021, it was announced that the hospital would be closing. The Nightingale Hospitals were established as part of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic in England, with the aim of providing additional hospital spaces to treat those affected by the virus. The name "Nightingale" was chosen in honor of Florence Nightingale, a pioneer in modern nursing. The NHS Nightingale Hospital Yorkshire and the Humber was officially planned and opened on 3 April 2020.
