Sec61 alpha 1

Sec61 alpha 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SEC61A1 gene. This protein is a key component of the Sec61 translocon, a channel complex responsible for the translocation of proteins across the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane. The Sec61 translocon plays a critical role in the insertion of proteins into the membrane of the ER, as well as in the translocation of secretory and membrane proteins into the ER lumen.
