TNNI3K

TNNI3K (TNNI3 Interacting Kinase) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the TNNI3K gene. This protein is a cardiac-specific kinase that is thought to play a critical role in cardiac development and function.

TNNI3K is a cardiac-specific kinase that can phosphorylate cardiac troponin I (TNNI3) and other proteins. It has been suggested to play a role in cardiac function and response to myocardial infarction. The TNNI3K gene is thought to influence the risk of congestive heart failure.

Clinical significance[edit | edit source]

Mutations in the TNNI3K gene have been associated with familial dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition characterized by an enlarged and weakened heart muscle. This can result in heart failure and other complications.

Research[edit | edit source]

Research into TNNI3K has suggested that it may be a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of heart failure. Studies have shown that inhibition of TNNI3K can reduce cardiac remodeling and improve heart function in animal models of heart failure.
