The Church Brew Works is a brewery and restaurant located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The establishment is housed in a former Roman Catholic church, St. John the Baptist, which was built in 1902. The Church Brew Works opened its doors in 1996 and has since become a popular destination for both locals and tourists.

The building that houses The Church Brew Works was originally St. John the Baptist Church, a Roman Catholic church built in 1902. The church was deconsecrated in 1993 due to declining membership and the building was subsequently sold. In 1996, The Church Brew Works was established in the former church building, preserving much of the original architecture and design.

Brewery[edit | edit source]

The Church Brew Works operates a microbrewery on the premises. The brewing equipment is housed in the former altar area, with the brew house standing where the altar once was. The brewery produces a variety of beer styles, including lagers, ales, and stouts. The Church Brew Works has won several awards for its beers, including at the Great American Beer Festival.

In addition to the brewery, The Church Brew Works also operates a restaurant. The menu features a mix of traditional American cuisine and pub food, with many dishes incorporating beer from the brewery. The restaurant is located in the former nave of the church, with seating in the original pews.
