Þorsteinsdóttir's literary career began in her early twenties when she published her first collection of poems, "Whispers of the Wind." "Saga of the North" tells the story of a young warrior who embarks on a quest to save his village from a powerful sorcerer. It has been translated into multiple languages and remains a staple of Icelandic literature.

Torfhildur Þorsteinsdóttir's contributions to Icelandic literature have had a lasting impact on the country's cultural heritage.
